Imagine a monumental structure that perfectly frames both the historical heart and the modern skyline of Dubai.
Welcome to the Dubai Frame, an architectural wonder that offers a breathtaking journey through the city's evolution. From panoramic views of Old Dubai to the glittering skyscrapers of New Dubai, this iconic landmark provides a unique perspective on the city's remarkable transformation. Let us guide you through the experience of stepping through this incredible frame.
It's highly recommended to purchase your tickets online through the official Dubai Frame website or authorised platforms. This secures your entry and can save you valuable time. While we pre-booked our tickets online, we experienced a significant wait upon arrival. In our personal opinion, the attraction itself didn't entirely justify the lengthy queue, though this is subjective and may vary depending on individual preferences.
The Dubai Frame is an iconic architectural landmark in Dubai, conceived to represent a metaphorical bridge between the city's past, present, and future.
Its origins trace back to a 2008 design competition organized by ThyssenKrupp Elevator and Dubai Municipality, which was won by Mexican architect Fernando Donis. Despite some controversy regarding intellectual property rights during its development, construction began in 2013.
The massive rectangular structure, standing 150 meters tall and 93 meters wide, officially opened to the public on January 1, 2018. Located in Zabeel Park, it's strategically positioned to offer panoramic views: framing "Old Dubai" to the north and "New Dubai" (with its modern skyscrapers) to the south.
Inside, visitors can explore galleries depicting Dubai's evolution from a fishing village to a global metropolis, and a future gallery envisioning what the city might look like decades from now. The top of the frame features a glass-bottomed bridge for a thrilling walk, making it a unique observation deck and a popular tourist attraction.
