Located on the vibrant island resort of Sentosa, this compact yet powerhouse park packs a massive cinematic punch, bringing your favourite films and television shows to life across brilliantly themed zones.

Whether you are looking to duel on the world's tallest interlocking roller coasters in Sci-Fi City, explore a magical fairy-tale kingdom in Far Far Away, or plunge into darkness on Revenge of the Mummy, Universal Studios Singapore seamlessly blends Hollywood glamour with pulse-pounding thrills. Perfectly sized to conquer in a single day, it is an absolute must-visit destination for families, movie buffs, and adrenaline junkies alike. Let's get ready for action!

History of Universal Studios, Singapore

  • 2006–2007: The Resorts World Vision: Surbana Jurong and Genting Singapore announce plans for a massive integrated resort on Sentosa Island. Universal Studios Singapore is conceived as the crown jewel of Resorts World Sentosa, designed to bring Hollywood-calibre storytelling to Southeast Asia to capture the regional tourism market.
  • 18 March 2010: The Soft Opening Milestone: The park opens its gates for a highly anticipated soft opening phase. Thrill-seekers flock to Sci-Fi City to experience Battlestar Galactica: Human vs. Cylon—the world's tallest interlocking roller coasters—though the ride suffers early, infamous technical teething issues that require temporary closures for safety modifications.
  • 28 May 2011: The Star-Studded Grand Opening: Universal Studios Singapore hosts its official grand opening ceremony, attended by Hollywood superstars like Paula Abdul and Jet Li. Alongside the celebration, the park finds massive critical acclaim with the debut of the world's first Transformers: The Ride-3D later that December, setting a new global benchmark for motion-simulator attractions.
  • October 2011: The Halloween Tradition Begins: The park introduces its own localised version of Universal's flagship autumn event: Halloween Horror Nights. Featuring regionally inspired folklore, elaborate haunted houses, and terrifying scare zones, it quickly grows into a massive annual staple of Singapore's nightlife calendar.
  • 2012–2015: Expanding the Blockbuster Lineup: To build on its initial success, USS adds high-profile intellectual properties to its seven themed zones. The park opens Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase in 2013 for families, followed by the world's first Puss in Boots' Giant Journey suspended coaster in the Far Far Away zone in 2015.
  • 2019: The Next Generation Announcement: Resorts World Sentosa announces a massive multi-billion-dollar expansion plan. This includes a major overhaul for Universal Studios Singapore, signaling the future retirement of older attractions to make way for highly anticipated, globally recognised modern brands.
  • May 2022: Saying Goodbye to Madagascar: The long-standing Madagascar: A Crate Adventure river boat ride officially closes its doors after an emotional farewell campaign. The entire zone is demolished to clear space for construction on the park's next massive evolution.
  • 2025–2026: Minion Land & Illumination Invasion: The park undergoes a vibrant modernisation with the highly anticipated opening of Minion Land. Replacing the former Madagascar area, this immersive space brings Illumination's mischievous characters to life, anchored by the flagship Despicable Me Minion Mayhem simulator ride and themed dining.
  • Looking Ahead: Super Nintendo World: Looking strictly toward the future, construction continues on the park's most immersive expansion yet: Super Nintendo World. This highly anticipated gaming land will allow guests to step directly into the world of Mario and friends, featuring interactive Power-Up Bands and groundbreaking ride technology.

General Accessibility & Planning

  • Guide for Rider Safety & Accessibility: A dedicated physical booklet known as the Rider’s Guide is available specifically for Universal Studios Singapore, outlining all safety requirements, boarding procedures, and services for guests with disabilities across the park. Printed copies can be picked up just inside the theme park entrance at Guest Services, and a comprehensive digital version can be accessed online to help plan ahead.
  • Accessibility Planning Assistance: This resource framework provides essential information for navigating your journey through the park's seven themed lands. It features detailed guidance on wheelchair-accessible routes, the Guest Assistance Card (GAC) for alternative queue arrangements, stroller and wheelchair rental facilities, and locating accessible restrooms.
  • Sensory & Environmental Factor Guides: Detailed breakdowns are provided for every attraction regarding specific physical restrictions, boarding protocols, and potential sensory environments. This includes upfront warnings for intense special effects or motions that may impact your experience, such as high-speed turbulence, sudden drops, backward movements, and pitch-black environments (such as on Revenge of the Mummy).
  • Accessible Restrooms: Spacious, fully accessible restroom facilities equipped with supportive features are strategically placed throughout the park's various lands. Additionally, baby changing tables and dedicated family-centric amenities are integrated into these common areas to ensure privacy and convenience for all guests.

mobility & access services

  • Parking & Accessible Transportation: Designated accessible parking spaces are available within the main Resorts World Sentosa underground car park, situated close to the lifts and escalators that lead directly up to the main theme park forum. For those arriving from mainland Singapore, the Sentosa Express monorail system from VivoCity is fully wheelchair-accessible, offering a smooth transit option that drops guests off just a short stroll from the park's front gates.
  • Wheelchair & Stroller Rentals: For guests requiring mobility assistance, manual wheelchairs and single or double strollers are available for daily rental at the dedicated rental station just inside the main entrance of the Hollywood zone, located on the right-hand side as you enter the park.
  • Guest Assistance Pass (GAP): Designed for guests who have difficulty tolerating extended waits in a conventional queue environment due to a physical or cognitive disability. This system allows you to present the pass to an attraction team member to receive an alternative boarding arrangement or virtual return time based on the ride's current wait time layout.
  • Child Swap & Single Rider: Available at select high-thrill attractions across the park (such as Transformers: The Ride-3D and Revenge of the Mummy). The Child Swap programme allows parents with young toddlers to take turns on a ride without queuing twice, while the Single Rider lines allow solo travellers to bypass the main standby queues to quickly fill individual vacant seats.

hearing & vision loss services

  • Sign Language & Interpretation Services: Rather than a rotating weekly schedule, Universal Studios Singapore can arrange specialised sign language interpretation services for select live productions and presentations at no additional charge, provided notice is given to Guest Services at least one week prior to your visit. For instant communication needs, guests can also approach Guest Services near the main entrance or visit the First Aid stations for on-the-spot communication assistance.
  • Assistive Listening Devices: Many of the main attraction queues and show venues across the park’s themed lands—including the Pantages Hollywood Theatere Lights, Camera, Action!, WaterWorld, Donkey LIVE!, and Shrek 4-D Adventure—are equipped with amplified audio broadcast signals. Guests whose personal hearing aids cannot interface with the broadcast signals can visit Guest Services to borrow a specialised handheld assistive listening device designed to pick up these amplified streams.

dietary & medical needs

  • Special Dietary & Dietary Compliance: From the Western favorites at Mel's Drive-In to local Singaporean dishes at the Discovery Food Court, the park’s culinary teams are highly trained to accommodate food allergies and specific dietary requests. Notably, many of the primary dining locations across the park are Halal-certified by the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS). Guests can comfortably request to speak directly with a chef or food and beverage manager at any major quick-serve outlet or table-service venue to discuss their specific cross-contact or allergen concerns.
  • Health Services & First Aid: A fully equipped First Aid station is located centrally near the park entrance, positioned just inside the Hollywood zone right next to the Baby Care Centre. Fully staffed by professional medical personnel, the team is on hand to assist with minor medical needs, provide basic over-the-counter medication, handle minor injuries, and offer a safe, climate-controlled storage environment for guests requiring a secure space to store essential medical devices or temperature-sensitive medications.
  • Oxygen & Essential Medical Equipment: Guests who depend on portable oxygen concentrators or oxygen tanks are fully permitted to bring their mobility and health gear into the park. To ensure comfort throughout the day, spare oxygen cylinders, bulkier equipment, or specialized medical kits can be securely stored and monitored at the central First Aid station between attraction visits.

family-friendly tips

  • Prioritise Headline Attractions Early: Head straight to Sci-Fi City for TRANSFORMERS The Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle and Battlestar Galactica, or move into Ancient Egypt for Revenge of the Mummy right at park opening while morning wait times are at their lowest.
  • Embrace Mid-Day Breaks: Escape the intense midday tropical heat and humidity by heading back to your nearby Sentosa resort pool, or relax inside massive, air-conditioned indoor theatres watching entertaining productions like Donkey LIVE! or Shrek 4-D Adventure.
  • Utilise the Baby Care Centre: Located near the front of the park inside the Hollywood zone next to First Aid, this quiet, air-conditioned oasis offers private nursing cubicles, a diaper-changing area, a food preparation space, and a peaceful environment for families to decompress.
  • Rent or Bring a Stroller: Navigating the park's loop layout means a lot of walking in a tropical climate; rent a stroller at the dedicated rental station just inside the main entrance for younger children, and tie a bright ribbon or tag to the handle to easily spot it in the designated stroller parking zones outside attractions.
  • Know Your Height Limits & Use Child Swap: Check restrictions beforehand for high-thrill rides like Battlestar Galactica or Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure. Use the Child Swap programme so adults can take turns riding without the entire family waiting in the standby line twice.
  • Stay for the Fireworks Finale: Gather around the Hollywood lagoon on select nights to witness the spectacular Lake Hollywood Spectacular, a dazzling evening entertainment showcase featuring vivid light displays and a dramatic fireworks production set over the water.
  • Carry a Well-Stocked Park Bag: Pack reusable water bottles to utilise the park's water fountains, light snacks, lightweight ponchos for sudden, unpredictable Singapore rain showers, and pocket fans to keep your family comfortable in the humidity all day.

An incredible walkthrough soundstage experience that pulls back the curtain on Hollywood filmmaking. You'll stand right on the edge of a boathouse as special effects teams simulate a Category 5 hurricane hitting New York City, complete with rising fire, crashing boats, and collapsing roofs.

current entertainment schedule for Universal Studios

These shows are typically offered on regular park days. (This information is correct at time of publish — May '26).

  • Lake Hollywood Spectacular: The park's signature nighttime finale featuring a dazzling fireworks display set over the central lagoon on select nights, synchronised to a dramatic and soaring musical score. Plays at park close. (Hollywood/Lagoon)
  • WaterWorld: A groundbreaking, high-energy outdoor theatrical stunt show featuring live stunt performers, expert jet-skiers, death-defying aerial drops, and massive pyrotechnic explosions seamlessly integrated into a sprawling tidal-wave arena. Runs multiple times throughout the day, typically starting from early afternoon. (The Lost World)
  • Shrek 4-D Adventure & Donkey LIVE!: Spectacular indoor shows alternating throughout the day inside the stunning Far Far Away castle complex. One blends a 3D cinematic experience with physical 4D sensory effects like wind, mist, and moving seats, while the other features an interactive, live-hosted musical comedy show starring Shrek’s favorite singing companion. Runs continuously throughout the day. (Far Far Away)
  • Atmospheric & Street Performances: Catch the high-energy, synchronised dance routines of the Rhythm Truck in Sci-Fi City, the retro-themed street dance sets outside Mel's Drive-In in Hollywood, or the vibrant, family-friendly street parties featuring your favourite characters rolling down the main avenues throughout the day.
  • Minion Land Character Kinetics: Rather than traditional sit-down theatre shows, this vibrant, whimsical realm relies on constant environmental energy, lively street-level character interactions, and interactive photo spots like the Illumination Theatre, where guests can capture moments with Gru, Lucy, and the Minions. (Illumination's Minion Land)

photo opportunities

Capture every magical moment of your island adventure with the park's professional photography services. Whether you are posing in front of the world-famous Universal Studios Globe, meeting your favourite characters up close, or screaming for your life on a high-speed roller coaster, there are plenty of ways to preserve your holiday memories. With dedicated park photographers stationed at the most iconic backdrops and high-tech cameras capturing your reactions mid-drop, you won't have to worry about fumbling with your phone to get the perfect shot.

DigiPhoto Pass

The park utilises a digital photo system called DigiPhoto, which allows you to consolidate your memories into one digital account. You can typically choose between:

  • One-Day Photo Pass: Gives you unlimited digital downloads of all photos taken by professional park photographers and automated ride cameras throughout a single day.
  • Single Photo Prints: If you prefer a tangible keepsake, you can purchase individual high-quality physical prints at designated photo hubs, which usually come with a complimentary digital download code for that specific image.
Where Photos are Captured
  • Iconic Backdrops: Roaming professional photographers are strategically stationed at the park's most scenic locations, most notably in front of the world-famous Universal Studios Globe at the main entrance and throughout the highly detailed themed lands.
  • Character Meet-and-Greets: When you queue up to meet your favorite characters—such as the Minions in Illumination's Minion Land or Transformers in Sci-Fi City—a professional photographer will be on hand to capture the interaction. They will scan your DigiPhoto QR code so the images sync directly to your account.
  • On-Ride Action Shots: High-tech automated cameras are integrated into the park’s most thrilling attractions. These cameras capture your genuine reactions at peak moments of adrenaline on rides such as: Revenge of the Mummy (Ancient Egypt), Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure (The Lost World) & Battlestar Galactica: HUMAN vs. CYLON (Sci-Fi City).
how to claim your photos

At the end of your day—or right after riding—you can view and claim your photos at the dedicated photo counters located at the exit of major attractions, or visit the main The Dark Room shop located in the Hollywood zone near the front of the park.

costs

Due to pricing for theme park photo packages changes frequently based on promotions, seasons, and whether you bundle them with your admission tickets, Universal Studios Singapore does not publish a single permanent price for their DigiPhoto packages online.

However, to give you a general idea of what to budget based on standard park pricing structures:

  • Single Printed Photo: A single high-quality physical print (packaged in a commemorative folder) from an attraction or character meet-and-greet typically costs around SGD 25 to SGD 35.
  • 1-Day DigiPhoto Pass: A full-day digital pass offering unlimited digital downloads of all your ride and photographer photos generally ranges from SGD 50 to SGD 70.

Tip: If you are planning to get the DigiPhoto Pass, look for it on the official Resorts World Sentosa website or authorized ticketing partners before you visit. They frequently offer discounted bundles that combine your 1-Day admission ticket with a DigiPhoto Pass, which is significantly cheaper than buying them separately at the park gates.

Additional events & experiences @ universal studios

To elevate your trip past a standard day ticket, Universal Studios Singapore offers several premium add-ons, seasonal events, and exclusive experiences that require additional payment.

queue-skipping add ons

If you want to spend your day riding instead of waiting in the tropical heat, you can add a queue-bypass pass to your standard admission ticket:

  • Universal Express: Allows you to skip the regular standby line one time at each participating attraction. Prices vary by date but usually start around SGD 90.
  • Universal Express Unlimited: Gives you unlimited priority access to skip the regular lines all day long at participating attractions.

Universal Studios Singapore VIP Experience

For the ultimate red-carpet treatment, you can book a 5-hour guided VIP tour (available as a shared group up to 12 people, or as a fully customised private experience).

  • What’s Included: A personal guide, direct front-of-line VIP access to at least 8 major attractions, private character meet-and-greet sessions, a commemorative lanyard, and a 10% merchandise discount.
  • Bonus Perk: Once the 5-hour guided portion concludes, your pass transforms into a Universal Express Unlimited pass for the rest of the operating day.
  • Cost: Prices typically start from SGD 378+ per person (which usually bundles your 1-day admission ticket).

(Note: All prices are correct at time of publishing - May '26)

Halloween Horror Nights (Seasonal After-Hours Event)

Usually running on select nights from late September through early November, the park undergoes a massive transformation into Halloween Horror Nights—the region's premier scare event.

  • The Experience: Because this is a separately ticketed nighttime event, daytime guests must exit the park. A ticket grants entry to high-production haunted houses (featuring global themes like Netflix's Stranger Things or local folklore), immersive scare zones, special live horror shows, and select park coasters operating in the dark.
  • Upgrades: You can buy a standalone event ticket (starting around SGD 60–88 depending on peak/non-peak nights), add an HHN Express Pass, or book an R.I.P. Tour—a premium guided horror tour that bypasses haunted house queues and includes private character photo ops.

Transportation Options to universal studios

Getting to Universal Studios Singapore (USS)—located within the Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) complex—is incredibly straightforward. Depending on your budget and preference, you can choose from several transit methods, classified into free and paid options.

complimentary transportation

  • The Sentosa Boardwalk (On Foot): If you are coming from mainland Singapore, you can walk across the scenic, fully sheltered Sentosa Boardwalk from the VivoCity shopping mall (Level 1). It features moving walkways to ease the 10-to-15-minute stroll and leads you directly to the entrance of RWS. Entry via the boardwalk is free.
  • Intra-Island Sentosa Buses (A, B, & C): Once you are already inside Sentosa Island, public island buses are entirely free to ride. Bus A and Bus C drop you off directly at the Resorts World Sentosa Basement 1 bus bay, just a quick lift or escalator ride away from the park gates.
  • Sentosa Beach Shuttles: If you are staying at a beach resort or spending time on Siloso, Palawan, or Tanjong beach, you can take the free beach shuttle to Beach Station. From there, you can hop onto the Sentosa Express monorail for free to get back to the park.
  • Leaving the Island via Monorail: While entering the island via the Sentosa Express monorail from mainland Singapore requires a paid ticket, riding the monorail anywhere within the island or taking it out of Sentosa back to VivoCity is completely free for all guests.

private & paid transportation

  • Sentosa Express Monorail: Located on Level 3 of VivoCity (right above the HarbourFront MRT station), this high-speed monorail is the most popular way to enter the island. It costs SGD 4 per person (payable via standard EZ-Link cards, contactless credit/debit cards, or at the ticketing counter). You will alight at the very first stop, Resorts World Station (formerly Waterfront Station), which sits right outside the USS globe.
  • Public Bus 123: This standard SBS Transit bus routes directly from central areas in mainland Singapore (like Orchard Road and Havelock) straight onto the island. You only pay standard distance-based public transit fares (around SGD 1 to SGD 3), with no extra Sentosa island admission fee added. Alight at the Resorts World Sentosa bus stop.
  • RWS8 Shuttle Bus: You can board this dedicated resort shuttle bus right outside VivoCity (bus stop 14141). It costs a flat fare of SGD 2 to take you across the bridge and drops you directly in the RWS basement passenger hub.
  • Taxis and Ride-Hailing (Grab/Gojek): You can hail a traditional taxi or book a ride-hailing app from anywhere in Singapore straight to the RWS basement drop-off point. Fares fluctuate based on your pickup location and peak-hour traffic demand, and an additional Sentosa island vehicle entry fee may apply depending on the time of day.
  • Singapore Cable Car: For the most scenic, premium arrival, you can take the Mount Faber Line cable car from HarbourFront Tower II to Sentosa Island. Tickets cost roughly SGD 25 to SGD 42 depending on bundles and residency. You will alight at Imbiah Lookout and take a short, free monorail or bus ride down to the theme park.
